David Austin joins the Compton Tartar in his first year of coaching the Track and Field team this 2019 season. Austin is a Los Angeles Native. His coaching experience comes from more than 10 years as a head track and football coach, athletic performance trainer, and strength and conditioning coach.

Austin’s track and football career began during his time at Gardena High School. He attended East Los Angeles College where he played defensive back for two years and completed his AA before receiving a Scholarship to Arkansas at Monticello. He later completed his undergraduate degree at California State University, Los Angeles and later attended graduate school at Concordia University Irvine. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Master’s degree in Coaching and Administration, and a Certification in Sport Base Youth Development Coaching as a Sports Social Worker. 

Austin stated that he enjoys inspiring young athletes to become accomplished men and women by passing on his knowledge of values on life, family, education, health, and sports.
