Moe Scott is excited about her first season directing the Compton College women's volleyball team as head coach later in 2024.
Scott was hired last May, but the school decided to wait until fielding a team as part of the South Coast Conference until the upcomingseason in August. Compton brings the program back to the Athletics calendar after last playing in the 2021 season.
"I feel honored and grateful to have the opportunity to rebuild the volleyball program at Compton College," Scott said. "Our program hopes to embody the strong traits we see in our community--resilience, respect and will power--in order to achive our goals, make school history, and put Compton College volleyball on the map."
In 2023-24, Scott served as an assistant coach at Cerritos College in helping that program make its first SoCal Regional Playoff appearance in 14 years. She also assisted on this past season's beach volleyball team.
In 2021, she was an assistant at Mt. San Antonio when the Mounties finished 20-7, earned a spot in the regionals, and was ranked #20 in the final CCCWVCA State Top 25.
Scott coached both the girls and boys volleyball teams for 12 years at La Serna High and earned a league Coach of the Year five times as well as CIF Coach of the Year and Whittier Daily News Coach of the Year in 2017. She has also coached at Sante Fe, La Mirada and Cypress High Schools.
Scott (formerly Gayton) played in the SCC as an All-Conference First Team setter at Cerritos College in 2009. The team MVP and captain totaled more than 1,000 setting assists in her Falcons career, then transferred to Hope International University where she was an all-conference selection as well.
She excelled in both volleyball and basketball at La Serna High, helping the volleyball team to three league championships and earning all-league honors in all four years in basketball.
Scott earned a bachelor's degree in education at Hope International and Ashford University in 2012.
