Aguillon, Castanon, and Martinez Honored on Sophomore Day

Compton, Calif. - Sophomores Dulce Aguillon, Janeth Castanon, and Nadine Martinez played their final home soccer game at Compton College in a match up against the Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks. The sophomores played with great passion, but the Tartars fell to the Seahawks 3-1.

The Seahawks would strike first with a goal from Gisela Cruz at the 7:45 minute mark. As the game would go back and forth with tough defense from both teams, Nylah Tardy was fouled inside the scoring box which allowed for her to convert on a penalty kick at the 35th minute mark.

The Tartars' Karina Rodriguez would lead in getting them on the scoreboard with her goal at the 40th minute mark to close the lead to one goal. As the Tartars tried diligently to tie the score they were unsuccessful, as the Seahawks scored a game defying goal in the second half of extra period play by Karen Jimenez.

Prior to the game, Aguillon, Castanon, and Martinez were honored for their efforts and contributions to the Women's Soccer team. We wish them luck on their future endeavors.

The women's soccer team next game will be in the South Coast Conference tournament at Mt. San Antonio College on Friday, November 5th at 3:00 p.m.
