Softball Falls to Long Beach; Honors Compton Faculty and Staff

Compton, Calif. - Sophomore Riah Nunley belted a shot over the centerfield fence to score two, but the Tartars fell 13-4 in five innings to Long Beach on Thursday afternoon.

The long ball was Nunley's ninth of the season. But the loss sets the softball team back to 11-19 on the season and still on the hunt for its first conference win in seven contests played.

Prior to the start of the game, Compton faculty member Dr. Kendahl Radcliffe threw out the cermonial first pitch in honor of Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day. Radcliffe currently is teaching a handful of sections in history during the Spring 2018 semester.

Sophomore Beatriz Herrera and freshman Taina Cruz both earned a pair of hits each, while freshman Cristina Valladares earned an extra base with a double in her one recorded hit.

The softball team heads to Ventura on Friday, Apr. 6 for an 11 a.m. contest.
