Compton, Calif. - Freshman Michelle Boyer went yard to score two, but the Compton softball team came up short against Cerritos, 5-3, on Thursday afternoon.

Six other Compton softball players earned a hit each with freshmen Ray-Ann Rudon and Yazzmine Arrington-Edwards both earning the other two runs scored.

Sophomore Marlene Rodriguez (3-4) threw the complete game, fanning four.

The Tartars (7-9, 0-2) head to Barstow next on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
