Men's soccer lose in a battle against third ranked team in the state

Compton, CA- 

(Compton, CA) The Compton College  Tartars Men's Soccer team, led by sophomore midfielder Juan Macias with the lone goal, lost its first match of conference play to the MT. SAC Mounties to a score of 3-1.

The Tartars showed great resolve and improvement as they display they can compete with the Mounties, which are ranked third in the latest CCCSIA State Poll (Oct. 5), improved to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the SCC North.Vasquez and sophomore forward Edward Castro each scored a goal in the 14th and 32nd minutes for a 2-0 first-half lead.

Vasquez scored his second goal of the game in the 58th minute for the 3-0 lead. Jacob Cervantes assisted on the goal.

Compton broke out with a goal late in the half with a goal in the 72nd minute by Macias. Macias currently leads the Tartars in goals for the season with seven. Macias has also scored in four games straight. 

The Tartars will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday (October 11), as they will host Pasadena City College at 4pm.
