Men's Soccer Get Their First Win of the Season

Compton- CA

The Compton College Tartars men's soccer team was able to pull out their first win of the season versus the Moorpark College Raiders with a score of 2-1.

Coach Juan Garcia has stated throughout their non-conference schedule that his team has continued to improve, and they showed just that as they pulled off an exciting home victory. Sophomore leader Juan Macias led the charge for the Tartars as he kicked in two goals for the team. This game proved to be a physical match as both teams battled hard for ball possession throughout the game. The game would go the Tartars way when there was a foul in the scoring box which led to a penalty kick for the Tartars. Macias converted the penalty kick to give the Tartars a 1-0 lead. The raiders fight back and school a minute later at the 29th minute mark by their freshman midfielder Alex Cruz to tie the score 1-1.

As both teams battled for possession and Tartars were able to capitalize once again with an impressive shot by Macias once again as he would score again to regain the lead for the Tartars right before the half at the 40th minute mark.

The second half of the soccer match was a true defensive effort as both teams provided limited scoring opportunities for either team. The Tartars would give a valiant team effort to maintain their one goal lead to end the soccer match with a final score of 2-1.

The Tartars will continue to display their improvement as they will take their show on the road to Victorville in a hotly contested match versus Victor Valley College
