Men's Soccer Outlasted by Cerritos

Compton, Calif. - Freshman David Trevino-Lermas earned a pair of goals - one in each half, but the Compton men's soccer team was outlasted by Cerritos, 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon.

Trevino-Lermas earned his first goal on a shot that dropped in just below the crossbar on the far side with a follow-up header in the second half.

Freshman Jose Rodriguez led the team with six shots, all on goal, scoring the first goal of the game and earning an assist.

The Tartars took an early 2-0 lead on Rodriguez's goal, followed by Trevino-Lermas' score. Freshman Benjamin Palafox earned the assist on Rodriguez's goal.

Cerritos answered back with a pair of goals, one on each side of the intermission, before Trevino-Lermas counted his header off a feed from Rodriguez and freshman Nicholas Lemos.

But back-to-back goals by Cerritos in the final eight minutes closed the gap and finished in favor of the Falcons.

Sophomore keeper Jaime Serna tallied seven saves in the complete match.

Compton (3-11-2, 0-4-1) head to El Camino next on Friday, Nov. 2 for a 4 p.m. match.
