Compton, Calif. - Freshman Jose Rodriguez earned his fifth goal of the season, scoring late in the match, but it wasn't enough as the Compton men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest to El Camino on Tuesday afternoon.

Rodriguez found the back of the net on a header in the 86th minute off a corner feed by freshman Elias Gonzalez Palacios.

The Tartars battled to control the ball in the final minutes but were unable to get another shot off before the end of regulation.

Freshman Ruben Martinez counted five saves in the goal, playing all 90 minutes.

Compton (2-5-1, 0-2-0) continues South Coast Conference play at Long Beach on Friday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m.
