Compton Captures First SCC Men's Basketball Championship In 8 Years

The state #25-ranked Compton College men's basketball team won its eighth straight game on Friday, 99-82 v. visiting El Camino, and in the process became South Coast Conference South Division Co-Champions with Cerritos. 

It is the first conference title by a Compton team since the 2016-17 season. 

Directed by head coach Keith Hollimon, Compton (19-9 overall) finished 9-1 in division play, splitting its two contests with Cerritos as each finished 9-1 to share the SCC South crown. 

Compton closed the 2024-25 regular season as the ninth highest scoring team in the state at 84.4 points per contest and it was 14th in field goal shooting percentage at 47.7 percent efficiency.

Against El Camino, Zoe Holman, the state leader in steals with 89 (3.2 per game), scored a game-high 22 points, making 12 of 15 free throws, and adding eight rebounds and six assists. Jordan English posted a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Kentrell Freeman tallied 12 points.

Off the bench, Jeremy Cook scored 15 points and Rey Daniels had 11 points. 

Compton awaits both the announcement of the SoCal Regional Playoff seedings and will find out who makes the All-SCC South Division Team this weekend.
