Men's Basketball wins 85-56

Compton, CA-

The Compton College Tartars men's basketball team tip off their home season opener with an impressive victory. The Tartars hosted the LA Pierce College Brahmas and won to a score of 85-56.

Like the old saying goes there is no place like home, and the men's basketball team seemed comfortable right from the tip. Sophomore guard Arvin Shirali was extremely hot from 3 point range as he made a total of seven three's on only 10 attempts. It was a total team effort as the entire team shot a blazing 53% from three-point range, which made it difficult for the Brahmas to defend the Tartars. At the end of the half the Tartars led 37-24. After halftime adjustments by head coach Keith Hollimon the Tartars jumped out to a big lead maintaining a 20-point lead for the last 10 minutes of the game. Second leading scorer of the game was James Baker Dunlap was very efficient as he had 15 points  with a 64% field goal shooting percentage.

The Tartars will look to continue their winning ways as their next game will be against Ventura College in the Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament.
