Dominique Alexander Earns Compton Tartar 2019-20 Men’s Sophomore of the Year Award

Compton, Calif. - It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that sophomore Dominique Alexander earned the Compton Tartar 2019-2020 Men's Sophomore of the Year Award. Alexander completed two seasons with the Tartar's Men's Basketball Team. 

Throughout the season Alexander participated in a total of 14 games and was ranked first in the SCC South for highest points per game averaging 28.1. He is also ranked sixth in conference for rebounds per game averaging 8.1. Alexander also averaged 4.5 assists per game as well. This year Alexander earned the January Student-Athlete of the month for Compton College and for CCCAA/ CCCSIA. He is only the second student-athlete from Compton College to receive the CCCAA Student-Athlete of the month. After the season was completed Alexander was then named to the All-South Coast Conference South Division First Team. 

During the month of January alone Alexander averaged 30.1 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 4.4 steals per game. In a game against LA Trade Tech, he posted 40 points and went 19 for 20 from the free throw line. Alexander then went to have his first triple-double of the season in the game against Pasadena City posting 21 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists.
