Compton, Calif. - It was announced on Thursday afternoon that freshman Onaje Higgins received the Compton Tartar 2019-2020 Men's Freshman of the Year Award. Higgins played guard for the Men's Basketball Team.

Higgins has previously earned Honorable Mention recognition for the SCC South Division Team and was awarded the December's Student-Athlete of the month for  leading the team in assists and steals throughout the season. He started in 21 of the 26 games he participated in. He is ranked first in conference for his assist to turnover ratio. Higgins also averaged 12.3 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per game.  

On January 15 Higgins put up 36 points against the East Los Angeles Huskies. Higgins also collected six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
