Tim Harrison is in his first year as Compton College's Dean of Athletics and Support Services in 2023-24.

Harrison is in charge of Compton's 13 intercollegiate sports teams.

Harrison is no stranger to higher education athletics. In his thirteen years at Ventura College, he served as dean over a variety of departments including Athletics, Health, Kinesiology, Fine and Performing Arts, and Off-Campus Programs.

In 2015-16, Harrison was Ventura's Interim Vice President of Business and Administrative Services.

Harrison hired Will Cowen, who would become a 3C2A Hall of Fame Athletic Director at Ventura. The pair led VC Athletics to capture five state championships, 11 Western State Conference Supremacy Awards, and six times ranked in the top 10 for community colleges in the National Athletic Two-Year College Association (NATYCA) Cup standings.

Under Harrison's leadership, 13 times Pirates squads earned state scholar athlete status by the 3C2A Awards Committee. Ventura averaged a student-athlete transfer rate to 4-year universities of 68 percent.

He worked closely with Cowen, campus faculty, and staff to renovate and upgrade many VC athletic facilities.

Harrison served previously as athletic director at Oxnard College in 2007-2008. During his year with the Condors, Harrison was the department chair, and fitness center coordinator.  As AD, Harrison directed 11 intercollegiate programs.

Prior to his arrival at Oxnard, Harrison spent 13 years as a basketball coach at the semi-pro, collegiate, and high school levels.

Harrison's coaching highlights included being on the men's basketball staff at Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado when the school won the 2002 NCAA Division II National Championship. Harrison was Cal Pac Coach of the Year at Cal Maritime, guiding his team to the 2007 NAIA playoffs.

Harrison, who played on the men's water polo team at Diablo Valley College, went on to earn his bachelor's degree in psychology from UC Santa Barbara, his master's degree in physical education, health, and recreation from Saint Mary's College, and his educational doctorate in higher education leadership from California Lutheran University.
