Seven Tartars Selected for American Mountain All-Conference

Compton, Calif. - The Compton College football team picked up all-conference honors on the announcements of the 2021 SCFA American Mountain All-League Team. Tartars' freshman offensive lineman Devin Pitts, freshman utility player Emmanuel Nkwocha, and kick returner/wide receiver Arsiah McCorker were selected for first team honors.

Pitts led the offensive line and was the leading force of organizing the line in pass protection and run blocking. He stands at 6’4 and 290lbs and was a punishing force for the offensive line. As a freshman, Pitts is bound for an even bigger sophomore season with the Tartars.

Nkwocha, the running back/linebacker from Bronx, NY has been Mr. Everything for the Tartars football team and was even the Compton College October Student-Athlete of the Month. He has impressed on both sides of the ball and has been a strong leader for the football program. His best game of the season was against Pasadena City College where he had over 100 yards running with one touchdown and a total of 15 tackles and a forced fumble, ultimately earing the Southern California Football Association Player of the Week for Special Teams/All-Purpose. Nkwocha finished the season with 182 all purpose yards, one touchdown, and 16 total tackles, a sack, and two force fumbles.

McCorker was selected first team all defense as a kick returner for the American Mountain All-League team, and second team offense as a wide receiver. He displayed dazzling speed throughout the course of the season for the Tartars. McCorker averaged a team high 20 yards per kick return with a season long of 41 yards. The speedy sophomore led the team in all-purpose yards with a total of 619 yards and team leading four touchdowns. McCorker was also the Compton College September Student-Athlete of the Month

The Tartars placed five players on the second team. Making the defensive squad were sophomore defensive end Jeremy Washington (10 tackles, 3.5 for loss, 0.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one pass breakup), and sophomore cornerback Zion Frasier (25 tackles, one for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception, three pass breakups),

Mohamed Nyangamukenga the freshman running back for the Tartars was also selected to the second team all offense along with offensive lineman James Castillo, and McCorker. Nyangamukenga rushed for 194 yards for the season with an average of four yards per carry and one touchdown for the season. One of his highlight rushing attempts was an 80-yard-long rushing attempt. Sophomore offensive lineman Castillo displayed grit and toughness throughout the season. The 6’5 and 330lb lineman was significant in the running and passing game for the Tartars as his game garnered him second team offensive honors.
