Tartars Come Up Short Against The Seahawks

Compton, Calif. - Saturday night the Compton Tartars football team had a tough battle with local rival, the Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks losing 29-18. Sophomore quarterback Octavious Battle threw for 219 yards for the game which was highlighted by an 87-yard touchdown pass to Arsiah McCorker in the second quarter.

The Tartars defense battled throughout the game causing two fumbles and two interceptions. One of the defensive highlights was an interception return of 81 yards by the sophomore Zion Frasier.

The Tartars were down 23-12 with 11:59 left in the fourth quarter and responded with a great drive by freshman quarterback Erick Salas to freshman receiver John Hart to cut the lead down to one possession with 3:31 left in the fourth quarter, however the Seahawks were able to prevail in the end.

Hart in the game received seven catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns earning a SCFA Offensive Player of the Week nomination.

The Compton College football (0-4) team will be on the road against West Los Angeles College (0-2) on September 25th at 1:00pm.
