Compton Falls to Citrus in Home Opener

Compton, Calif. - The Compton Tartars (0-2) faced off against the Citrus Owls (2-0) Saturday night in their first home game of the season, but fell 45-6. Freshman Shamon Collay was the starting quarterback and went 4-9 with 16 yards.  

Freshman Benjamin Owsley brought in the first home touchdown for the Tartars. Sophomore Xavier Shepherd led the team in rushing yards with 14 yards in nine attempted plays. Freshman Arsiah McCorker covered 38 yards in three receiving catches, one of which covered 29 yards total. 

Sophomore Jaelin Smith led the defense with seven tackles, including one sac. Freshman Ramon Duarte collected one interception in the first quarter. 

The Tartars head to East Los Angeles College next on Saturday, Sept. 21 for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
