Badminton is BACK at Compton College!

Many may ask what Badminton entails. Simply put, Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Six student athletes, along with 2 coaches have brought the sport to fruition at Compton College, after a short absence. Since February 2023, our student athletes have competed and made each match highly interesting. In many instances, the opposing schools have stated that Compton College Badminton team is "scary, highly athletic, and they have a big heart." During the first match on February 24th versus East Los Angeles College, Compton College lost a close match, 12-9.

This past week, Compton traveled to El Camino College and competed with the #4 South Coast Conference team and fought until the end. Although, the Lady Tartars took many Lady Warriors to a 3rd match, the Tartars lost a 16-5, improving their overall performance.

When asked Coach Diego Back (first year coaching badminton), how it felt coaching these student athletes, Coach Back exclaims, "It is a great group, who learn quick and are very athletic. The future is bright for our (Badminton) team."

Compton College Badminton has two games this week. One at home on Wednesday (4/5/2023) vs. Pasadena and they travel to San Diego Mesa on Friday (4/7/2023).
