Reyes, Laguna, Pina, and Macias Receive Men's Soccer All-Conference Honors

Compton, Calif. - Freshman Ramiro Reyes and Sophomore Rigoberto Laguna headlined the 2021 All-South Coast Conference, South Division First Team, for Compton College Men’s Soccer.

Reyes was named to the SCC-South conference first team after displaying great poise as a defender for the Tartars all season. Even as a defender he was aggressive offensively as well with one goal and seven shots and five shots on goal. Laguna was another great defender for the Tartars that was recognized by the conference. Laguna was a team leader a very vocal defender to get the team in place defensively. Laguna played in all the Tartars games and showed great defensive consistency that his teammates could rely on throughout the season.

Along with first team honors, the Tartars also received two second team honors as well with Anthony Pina and Juan Macias being named to the second team.

Goaltender Pina was a solid force throughout the season he had a total of 81 saves and two shutouts. The Freshman Pina had dazzling acrobatic saves throughout the season and made it difficult for opponents to score goals on the Tartars.  

Macias was the other all-conference second team player selected for the Tartars. As the midfielder for the Tartars Macias displayed great ball control skills throughout the season. He also had four goals and led the team for shots (19) and shots on goal (15) for the season.

Congratulations to the four selected student-athletes and looking forward to next season for the three returners and wishing Sophomore Laguna much success at his next college.
