Women's Soccer Comes Up Short against Long Beach

Compton, Calif. - Despite a late goal by freshman Marisol Mercado, the women's soccer team (2-7, 0-2) came up short against Long Beach, 5-1, on Friday evening.

Mercado's goal came in the 77th minute on a shot that snuck past the goalie in the top of the goal, following a foul on freshman Carina Perez. 

Freshman Diana Gonzalez saved 12 attempts by the Vikings (5-3-2, 2-0) in the goal.

The women's soccer team heads to Cerritos next on Tuesday, Oct. 3 for a 4 p.m. match.
