Compton, Calif. - Sophomore Troy Peters went 2 for 3 in the Compton Softball's home opener but the Tartars (0-2, 0-2) fell short to East Los Angeles (2-0, 0-1) , 4-15. Peters had one double and 3 RBI's on the day.
Freshman Vanessa Soriano started on the mound and pitched for a total of four complete innings.
Prior to the start of the game the team took time to honor their late teammate, Erin Lavender, who lost her life over the winter break. Lavender would have been a sophomore this season. She will be dearly missed this softball season.
The Tartars will play at home against Rio Hondo College on February 11th at 3 p.m.
