Softball Falls to Long Beach on Sophomore/Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day

Compton, Calif. - Sophomore Yazzmine Arrington-Edwards drove in two runs, but the Compton softball team fell 13-3 to Long Beach on Tuesday afternoon for Sophomore/Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day.

Prior to the start of the game, Compton softball welcomed Professor of English and Humanities and Academic Senate President, Amber Gillis, to throw out the ceremonial first pitch in honor of Faculty and Staff at Compton College.

First pitched was followed by the honoring of sophomores Samantha Orzoco, Yazzmine Arrington-Edwards, Blanca Hernandez, and Cristina Valladares before playing their last game.

In the game, Arrington-Edwards went 1 for 2 with a double, walk, and two RBIs in the contest. Orzco and Hernandez both earned hits, going 3 for 3 and 1 for 4 with a RBI respectively. 

The Tartars end their season with an overall record of 8-31-1 and 2-19 in conference play.
