Tartars Fall to San Diego Mesa, 35-0

Compton, Calif. - Sophomore Da'jon Dinkins threw for 157 yards, but the Tartar football team fell 35-0 to San Diego Mesa on Saturday evening.

Dinkins connected on 25 passes on 48 attempts, throwing a long 27-yard pass to freshman Aaron Willis with four other receivers getting into the action. Sophomore Harold Johnson led all receivers with 57 reception yards.

Freshman Semisi Iongi led the defense with 7.5 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss for a total of seven yards. Sophomores Gregory Filer III and Joshua Hollins both counted interceptions.

The Tartars (0-3) held the Olympians (3-0) to only a 27 percent conversion rate on third down attempts, while holding the ground game to only 90 yards.

The football team heads out on the road to Santa Barbara City College on Saturday, Sept. 23. Kick off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
