Mountie Women's Soccer unbeaten streak hits six with SCC crossover shutout win over Compton

(Walnut, CA) With a well-balanced offensive attack, host Mt. San Antonio College (12-2-2, 5-0-1) dominated Compton College (4-9-1, 1-4) to pick up a 6-0 South Coast Conference crossover win on Friday, Oct. 20.

The Mounties' first score came in the 12th minute when Kathryn Davis scored on an assist from Veronica Aquino. Others who contributed to Mt. SAC's scoring included Kristin Mijares (unassisted, 23rd minute; Alena Valdez assist, 63rd minute), Brianna Bernal (Jasmin Delgado and Ynneli Gonzalez-Sori assist, 31st minute), Elena Ochoa (Jacynda Rueda assist, 43rd minute) and Joie Juarez (Mijares assist, 53rd minute).

Anai Olmedo (45 minutes) and Emily Vanderkallen (45 minutes) combined in goal for the Mounties, who kept the Tartars from making any shots on goal.

Mt. SAC will close out its regular season home schedule with an SCC crossover game against Cerritos College (3-10, 3-3) on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. Ranked tied for No. 3 in the most recent California Community College Sports Information Association state poll, the Mounties are in first place in the SCC North standings ahead of Rio Hondo College (11-2-4, 4-2).
