Two More Shut Outs For MSJC Soccer

The MSJC soccer team picked up two more shut out victories this week as they beat Compton 4-0 and Cerritos 3-0.

The Eagles downed Compton on Tuesday night behind goals from Aaliyah Sims, Brinley Taylor, Ava Berger, and Nadia Dogan.  Berger, Mia Lopez, Leilani Aves, and Avril Martinez each had an assist as MSJC scored two goals in each half.  Daisy Reyes played all 90 minutes in goal and made a save on her way to a shut out.

Thursday the Eagles again led 2-0 at halftime on their way to victory over Cerritos.  Karyme Mendoza scored the first goal of the day in the 21st minute with an assist from Aves.  Dogan would score in the 42nd minute on a rebound from a Belinda Jara shot to push the lead to 2-0.  Berger added the final goal of the match in the 87th minute.  Madison Claborn was the Eagles keeper on the day, making 4 saves to preserve the victory.

The Eagles improved to 8-1 on the season with the two victories and now will get set to open Inland Empire Athletic Conference play next Friday.  MSJC will travel to Norco to open league play on October 6th at 4 pm.
