The state #11-ranked Pasadena City College women's soccer team enjoys matches at Robinson Stadium this season. PCC has put together an outstanding 7-0-1 mark at home this year, including a 5-0 triumph over Compton on Friday night in a South Coast Conference match.

The Lancers, now 10-1-4 overall and 3-1 in SCC play, have outscored visiting teams, 31-4, and have not lost at home in nearly a year (Oct. 28, 2022 last defeat).

Against Compton, PCC attacked a Tartars squad that had just 10 players and saw one leave with an injury but come back in to play in the second half.

In outshooting Compton, 31-0, the Lancers opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Charlie Gallardo received a pass from Angely Puga and netted a shot from 25 yards away.

In the 16th minute, Gallardo chipped a free kick to Bertha Guzman who then led Alexa Espinoza-Gutierrez for her sixth goal of the season. A little more than two minutes later, Riley Buck raced in on a breakaway and was stopped initially by Compton goalie Georgina Moreno, but the rebound came to Gallardo who immediately connected for her second goal of the game (sixth overall) and a 3-0 Lancers lead.

Eight minutes into the second half, Puga rifled an unassisted blast from 23 yards out for her fifth goal in 2023. With eight minutes remaining, Hailey Hull broke open on a lead pass by Itzel Nunez and powered in a 10-yard shot that capped the game's scoring. It was Hull's fourth of the year.

Compton received an outstanding defensive effort by Leslie Garcia, who made a number of breakups and blocked shots.

PCC's team defense recorded its eighth shutout of the season while the offense is 14th in the state in goals with 41.

The Lancers are just one point behind #3-ranked Mt. San Antonio (3-0-1 in conference) in the SCC North Division standings. The two top North squads meet on Tuesday, Oct. 17 in a 7 p.m. game.
