
Sophomores Biko Hollie and Emily Licon kept the state #19-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team focused while freshman Elena Uribe came off the bench to deliver a double-digit kill performance in the state #19 Lancers sweep over Compton, 25-17, 25-8, 25-11, on Wednesday night.
Hollie ripped seven of her 10 kills (hit .474 overall) in the opening set and added 11 digs while Licon served four aces during an impressive 11-0 serving run in set #2. Uribe slammed 10 kills (.286) and had six digs and Licon finished with 16 digs and five of the Lancers' 12 aces.
PCC (7-9) hit .277 as a team as more reserves impressed on five kills from Maggie Hunter and four by Emma Santa Ana. Marina Segura landed two acea and Daniela Millot picked up a kill.
Shaylee Ungos set 22 assists to go with three kills and Kamea Vongfak scored all 14 of her assists in the opening set before taking the rest of the night off. Machijah Harville picked up three kills and a solo block and both Chayse Hoon and Brianna Galvan had three kills each.
The Lancers open South Coast Conference North Division play on Friday, Oct. 4 in a 6 p.m. contest v. East Los Angeles College at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
