Baseball explodes for 15 runs at Bakersfield to end the week 1-3 away from WSC North action

The Raiders, along with all the WSC North conference, took a break last week to get in their WSC crossover schedule with their South foes. The Raiders used the week to host Compton and make up two rainouts against Coalinga, formerly West Hills Coalinga, and Bakersfield.
The Raiders opened the week hosting Compton. The game started under threatening gray sky and saw the Raiders get on the board first. With Danny Asplund and Jadon Onaca, Drew Paez grounded to 3B who promptly overthrew the 1st baseman scoring Asplund and Onaca. 2-0 Raiders after 3.
Compton plated a run in the 5th and 6th inning to tie the game. The Raiders responded with a run in the bottom of the 6th. Lead off batter Jadon Onaca knocked a ball over the left field fence to give the Raiders the lead and open the cloudy sky. 3-2 Raiders after 6.
With a light rain coming down, the Raiders added to their lead with a Nate Kaczynski 2 run homer scoring Asplund who had just walked. 5-2 Raiders after 7.
Compton would score three in the top of the 9th to tie the game and the Raiders went 1,2,3 in their half of the 9th to send the game into extra innings. Compton added a run in the 11th and the Raiders went 1,2,3 to end the game.
In a rain make up from February, the Raiders hosted Coalinga College and the Raiders struggled on the mound and plate. The Raiders broke through in the bottom of the with three straight with Kaczynski RBI single score Asplund. The Falcons plated three more in the top of the 7th to take a 5-1 lead. In their half of the 7th, Brendon Watkins walked and Asplund singled. Kaczynski RBI single scored Watkins, 5-2 Falcons after 7. The Falcon's lead grew to 7-3. In the bottom of the 9th, the Raiders loaded the bases. With two outs, Gabe Flores 2 RBI single would end the their scoring and game 7-5, Falcons.
Playing another rain make-up game, the Raiders traveled to Bakersfield and the Raiders bats came alive as the Raiders exploded for 15 runs. The Raiders put crooked numbers in the 5th and 8th innings.
Nate Kacsynski went 3 for 4 with a homerun, two doubles, 4 RBIs, and 4 runs scored. Drew Paez went 3 for 6 with a double, 3 RBIs. Austin Cuccias had 4 RBIs. Danny Asplund went 2 for 5 with a run scored. Nate Franco went 3 for 6 with a RBI and three runs scored. Valor Castroll picked up the win.
Up next, the Raiders have Spring Break but will host Victor Valley on Wednesday and Thursday, March 26-27 with both games starting at 2.
