Compton, Calif. - Freshmen Jordan Griffin (men's basketball) and Andranae Powns (women's basketball) have been named the Compton Athletics November Athletes of the Month, announced Friday.

Freshman Jordan Griffin led the Tartars to a 5-2 start to the 2018-19 campaign, leading the team in scoring with an average of 22.6 points per game. Both losses came down to the wire, as the Tartars fell by three points each time. Griffin earned a season-high five steals and eight rebounds against Grossmont at home on November 14. And he is a threat offensively from all over the court, counting 19 three-pointers and shooting 86 percent from the free throw line.

Andranae Powns
Guard | 5-8 | Fr. | David Starr Jordan HS

Freshman Andranae Powns led the Tartars on both sides of the ball, averaging 13.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. She reached double-figures in all but one game this season, recording a best 10 boards in the month's finale.
