Compton, Calif. - It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that freshman Graciela Gomez has committed to Philander Smith College to further her cross country and track and field athletic career.
Gomez participated on the both the cross country and track and field teams this past year. She placed 32nd overall out of 52 athletes in the South Coast Conference Championships. Throughout the season she dropped a total of four minutes in her 5K run. Gomez earned October's Student-Athlete of the Month. She also participated on the 2019 softball team and 2020 badminton team. Gomez also served as the President of the newly created Student-Athlete Leadership Team.
The Philander Panthers are members of the NAIA and compete in the Gulf Coast Conference. In the 2018 season the Panthers finished second overall in conference for cross country.
