Head Women's Soccer Coach, Diego Back, Earns the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award

Compton, Calif. – It was announced on Thursday that Head Women’s Soccer Coach, Diego Back, received the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award for the 2020-2021 academic year. Candidates for this award were evaluated on the following:

  • Serving students
  • Commitment to the Compton College mission
  • Campus, professional, or student activities
  • Commitment to education and discipline
  • Commitment to serving as a representative of the profession
  • Commitment to exhibiting professionalism to staff, faculty, students, and the campus

Coach Back has been student driven since he started with Compton College in the spring 2019. He has helped create new traditions at Compton College. From establishing a transfer signing ceremony for student-athletes who have committed to teams at four-year universities to creating a commit day for his incoming first-year student-athletes and transfers. During which, this event new recruits and their family and friends are celebrated and welcomed into the Compton Athletics family with teammates and athletic support staff present to cheer them on. In addition, his most recent women's soccer sophomore class had all three student-athletes signed and committed to compete at the four-year universities for various institutions.

Coach Back has shown that he deserves this recognition for being adaptable and innovative during this time of distance learning by still providing quality service and support to his students and colleagues. He will receive a specially designed medallion from the Compton Community College District and will be recognized by the Board of Trustees on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
