The Compton Tartars Men's Basketball suffer first conference loss

Compton, Calif.- The Compton Tartars Men's Basketball suffer first conference loss to LA Southwest Cougars to a score of 86-103.

The Tartars shot 18% from three-point range in a loss to the Cougars. Even though the Tartars had some open looks at the basket they just had a tough time connecting from deep. The point per game season leader Gabriel Ajemian was plagued by foul trouble as he fouled out of the game while playing 12 minutes against the Cougars. When shots are not falling the defense is heavily depended upon however the Cougars were able to connect on a lot of highly contested shots. This was the Tartars second time playing against the Cougars. In their first matchup of the season the Tartars lost 98-110 in the Wild West Shootout tournament.

The Tartars currently have a (2-1) record in conference play. The men's basketball team (7-9, 2-1) next game will be at home on Friday, January 28th at 5:00 pm against the Long Beach City College Vikings (8-10, 1-2).
