Compton, Calif. - Congratulations to men's basketball player A Al Najim Ashley and women's basketball Paola Ramos for earning the Compton College December Student-Athletes of the Month honors.
It was a great December for Ashley the 6'2 sophomore guard of the men's basketball team. To begin the month off he led the team to a big win over Copper Mountain as he scored a game-high 30 points and was aggressive in getting to the foul line as he made 83 % of his free throws. His passion for the game has been on display in all the Tartars games in the month of December. With conference play close to starting the Tartars will be looking for continued strong play from Ashley the rest of the season. Most importantly Ashley has been taking care of his responsibilities in the classroom as well for the fall semester earning the recognition of being Fall 2021 Scholar-Athlete.
Paola Ramos is the sophomore forward leader for the Tartars in December. She leads the Tartars in four statistical categories; points, assist, blocks, and free throw percentage. Ramos is averaging 13.3 points a game, 2.1 assist, 2.3 blocks and shooting 68 percent from the free throw line. Due to Ramos' great defensive performances, she is currently ranked eighth in the state in blocks per game. Ramos is also a stellar student as she is also a Fall 2021 Scholar-Athlete.
