Compton, Calif. - The 2018 Compton Tartar Classic wrapped up on Wednesday as the Tartars (8-5) finished 2-1 in the tournament, beating West Hills Lamoore (127-77) and LA Pierce (83-77) and losing to Antelope Valley (73-70) in the finale.
Freshman Aaron Taylor put up two-20 point efforts in the tournament, 21 against West Hills Lamoore and 22 versus Antelope Valley, all while shooting 54 percent from the field.
Freshman Jordan Griffin earned his ninth 20-plus point game of the season against West Hills Lamoore along with going 8-9 from the free throw line.
Sophomore James Mitchell counted a season-high 21 points on Monday along with eight rebounds.
The men's basketball team has an extended break before heading to Rio Hondo (3-10) on Friday, Jan. 4 for a 6 p.m. tip.
