Compton, Calif - It was announced on Friday afternoon that sophomore Craige Slaughter earned the Compton Tartar 2019-2020 Most Inspirational Award. The Most Inspirational Award is given to those student-athletes who have overcome challenges whether it be on the field, in the classroom, or in their personal lives. These student-athletes exemplify the Tartar Spirit.

Slaughter earns this award for his optimism and determination on and off the football field. Despite a challenging season he made sure to show up during practice, motivated and encouraged his teammates, and gave it his all during the game. 

Slaughter has also earned Second Team League Honors for the American Metro Division for the defense safety position and October's Student-Athlete of the Month. He collected 57 tackles throughout the season with 36 of them being solo tackles. Slaughter averaged 7.1 tackles per game. He also had two interceptions and one touchdown on a fumble return.
