Compton, Calif. - David Cooper and Michael Wood III were named to the 2017 Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Scholar-Athlete Team, announced Monday.

Cooper, a defensive back that also made appearances at running back, transferred to Compton from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo after playing one season for the Mustangs. He graduated at the end of the Fall 2017 semester with a 3.41 GPA.

Wood III played two seasons for the Tartars at offensive line after beginning college at Fresno State University. He boasts a 3.09 eligibility GPA and is on track to graduate at the end of the Spring 2018 semester.

Eligible student-athletes have exhausted their eligibility at the two-year college level, complete a minimum of 36 units in which 27 need to be academic, and maintain a minimum 3.0 eligiblity grade point average.
