Filer and King Lead Tartars in All-Conference Selections

Compton, Calif. - Sophomore cornerback Gregory Filer III was an unanimous All-American Metro League First Team Defense selection with sophomore defensive tackle Alonzo King Jr. joining him on the top team, announced Tuesday.

Joining Filer and King, sophomore quarterback Da'jon Dinkins and freshman kicker Gabino Barrera were named second team offense, while sophomores David Cooper (safety) and Edward Webber (defensive tackle) were tabbed second team defense.

Filer recorded 39 total tackles on the season, 20 in league play, with five interceptions on the year. In the team's matchup with Glendale, he earned two picks of his three total in league competition for 60 yards.

With 15 tackles in American Metro play, King averaged 3.8 tackles per game, adding a sack.

The Tartars finished the 2017 campaign with a 1-9 record, 1-5 in conference play, capping the season with a 19-13 win at LA Southwest.
