Football Falls to Glendale in Home Finale

Compton, Calif. - Sophomore Gregory Filer III pulled down a pair of picks, including a 60-yard return, but the Compton football team (0-9, 0-5) fell to Glendale (1-7, 1-3), 21-13, on Saturday evening.

Freshman back Josh Campbell counted the first score for the Tartars on a one-yard rush in the second quarter to cut the Vaqueros' lead to one possession at the 14-7 mark. Sophomore Harold Johnson earned the other touchdown for the Tartars on a 22-yard pass sophomore Da'jon Dinkins in the third. 

Offensively, freshman Bobby Simon led the backfield with 34 yards, while sophomore Jordan Kelly earned 64 yards on four receptions.

Leading the defense with eight solo tackles, freshman Tyler Cotton also tallied a tackle for loss, while freshman Ualeni Pahulu earned the two sacks for the team for a total of 10 yards. Sophomore Samuel Shirley posted the other interception for the team, returning it for six yards, while also adding a fumble recovery.

The Tartars have a bye week before the season finale at LA Southwest on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.
