Tartars Drop Contest against West LA

Compton, Calif. - Sophomores Gregory Filer III and Zack Zavala both counted picks with Filer adding a fumble recovery, but the Compton football team (0-7, 0-3) dropped a 24-7 contest against West LA (2-5, 2-1) on Saturday evening in its Tartar Football for a Cure game.

The Compton Athletics Department will be giving all money collected in its donation jar, as well as part of the proceeds from ticket sales to the Susan G. Komen Los Angeles in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On the game, Filer had three tackles, while Zavala posted six. Freshman Craige Slaughter paced the defense with seven tackles. Offensively, freshman Josh Campbell counted 48 yards including the team's lone touchdown on a two-yard rush. Freshman Aaron Willis led the receiving corp with 61 yards on seven receptions.

The Tartars return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Santa Ana. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
