Baseball Drops Contest to Vikings on Sophomore/ Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day

Compton, Calif. – Sophomore Andy Rosales started on the mound collecting four strike outs, but the Compton baseball team fell 12-3 to Long Beach on Thursday afternoon for Sophomore/Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day.

Prior to the start of the game, Compton baseball welcomed Compton College counselor, Ms. Vanessa Haynes to throw out the ceremonial first pitch in honor of Faculty and Staff at Compton College.

The game was followed by the honoring of sophomores Shoma Yoshida, Andy Rosales, Josh Fischer, Jose Montalvo, Julian Rodriguez-Guevara, Nick Redick, Ronnie Flores, Mike Hernandez, Cory Bradley, Aaron Kirchner, Billy Sanchez, Juan Vasquez, Cristian Beltran, Kevin Smith, and Daniel Salcedo for completing their second season.

In the game, Sanchez, Kirchner, and Fischer each collected RBIs. Salcedo came in as a relief pitcher and did not allow any hits.  

The Tartars end their season with an overall record of 12-28 and 7-15 in conference play.
