Settling in as the team's regular designated hitter, freshman Evan Nahra is embracing the role as he batted 3-for-3 with a triple as the Pasadena City College baseball team won its 3-game series v. Compton, taking the road finale, 6-3, on Friday.

By winning the series, 2-1, PCC upped its overall record to 19-15 and remain in a tie for fourth place with El Camino in the South Coast Conference at 11-10.

Nahra is on an 11-for-22 hitting tear in the last six games, showing some power with two doubles, two triples and a home run. He wore out Compton pitching, going 7-for-11 with five RBI in the three games.

Also the team's backup catcher, Nahra upped his season average to .342 and leads the team in slugging percentage at .630.

In the top of the second, Nahra singled to start a 3-run rally capped by a rightfielder Trevor Scott RBI hit for a 3-1 Lancers lead. In the seventh, second baseman Ivan Barragan ripped a run-scoring double and shortstop Jack Esguerra knocked him in with a single. Catcher Mark Manuel added a RBI hit in the eighth.

Starter and winning pitcher Joe Bacon had a masterful performance, hurling eight-plus innings, allowing eight hits and striking out five for his team-leading seventh victory (7-3). Ben Griffith picked up his team-leading fifth save.

Bryan Richman, who had a rare 0-for-4 game, dropped to #3 in the SCC in overall batting at .389 as El Camino's Connor Meidroth now leads at .400.

Next week, the Lancers face a tough challenge v. conference first-place Cerritos (29-5, 16-2 in SCC play). The first game of the series is Tuesday, April 16 in a 2 p.m. first pitch at Brookside Park's Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.
