Eagle Softball Falls into Second Place in IEAC

The MSJC softball team dropped a key Inland Empire Athletic Conference game on Wednesday 3-1 at Chaffey giving the Panthers a two game lead in the league standings with just two weeks left in the regular season.

Chaffey scored a run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead and the game would stay that way into the 5th inning.  Isabella Harris drove home Azaylea Carrasco in the top of the 5th to even the score for MSJC.  The Panthers pushed the winning runs across in the bottom of the 6th when they scored twice.  Bailey Heuer was the only Eagle in the game with more than one hit as she went 2 for 3.  Stephanie Wagner took the loss in the circle despite a solid outing.

The Eagles were coming into Wednesday after being swept in a doubleheader by Compton on the road Saturday.  In Saturday's first game it was an epic pitcher's duel as Compton finally pushed across the only run of the game in the bottom of the 8th to win 1-0.  Trinity Robinson was outstanding in the circle for the Eagles as she threw 7 and 2/3 innings allowing just one unearned run on 3 hits, while striking out 8.  Annalie Castanon, Alyssa Jimenez, and Abigail Patrick each had a hit for the Eagles.  In game two MSJC let a 2-0 lead through 4 and a half innings slip away as they lost 5-3.  Natalie Juarez had 2 RBIs in the loss and Carrasco drove home the Eagles other run.

MSJC now stands at 17-12 overall on the season and is 8-3 in IEAC games.  The Eagles have four games remaining on their regular season schedule, starting with a pair of home contests next week.  Wednesday MSJC will take on Victor Valley at 2 pm in their final conferene game of the year, they will host East LA on the Menifee Campus Friday at 1 pm.
