Tia “The Hurdler” Spears

On Thursday, April 27 sophomore student-athlete Tia Spears threw out the first pitch at the Tartar baseball game, in honor of celebrating her sophomore season with the track & Field team.  Tia "The Hurdler" Spears is a tri athlete for Compton College, participating in the 2021 Cross Country Team, Compton College's First Volleyball Team in 2021, and Women's Track & Field Team in the 2022 & 2023 seasons.

 

In 2022 Tia represented Compton College in the South Coast Conference Finals where she took 1st place in the 400 hurdles, 2nd in the 100 hurdles and 3rd in the 400m open. In the same year, she reached the CCCAA State Championships and represented Compton College in the hurdle events. Tia wrapped up last track season with being named the 2022 South Coast Conference Women's Athlete of the Meet and named to the 2022 South Coast Conference Women's All -Conference Team. Tia will be heading to this year's Conference finals in aim of getting back to the CCCAA Track & Field State Championships.

 

Tia currently holds the following school records for track and field in the 60-meter-dash, 60-Hurdle, 100-Hurdle, 300-Hurdle, and 400-Hurdle.
