Compton, Calif. – It was announced on Monday that sophomore Marceya Vernardo from Women’s Basketball and freshman Arsiah McCorker from Track and Field earned Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of February, courtesy of Raising Cane’s in Lakewood, CA. 

Vernardo has just completed her second season with the Tartars. During the 2019-2020 season she averaged 8.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. For the month of February, Vernardo averaged 11.4 points, 2.2 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.

McCorker competed in his first Track and Field meet on Friday, February 27 and placed third and fourth in two different events. He placed third in the Men’s Long Jump with his furthest distance of 6.38 meters. McCorker then placed fourth in the Men’s 200 Meter with a time 22.83.
