Compton, Calif. - Men's soccer's Jose Rodriguez and women's soccer's Carina Perez have been tabbed the Compton Athletics September Athletes of the Month, announced Monday.

In September, freshman Jose Rodriguez scored three goals, completing a hat trick against Victor Valley on September 13. In the same game, Rodriguez added an assist. Overall on the season, he has scored four goals and earned two assists, and he has started all seven matches for the Tartars.

Switching from mainly defense to forward this season, sophomore Carina Perez leads the Tartars' shot percentage, connecting three times in the month of September. The team captain also has an assist and is tied for the most goals, assists, and points on the team.
