Compton, Calif. – Freshman Dominique Alexander (men's basketball) and Andranae Powns (women's basketball) have been named the Compton Athletics January Athletes of the Month, announced Monday.

Freshman Dominique Alexander, earns the Athlete of the Month for his ball handling skills and offense contribution. In the month of January Alexander led the Tartars in points scored per game (19.3), assists (5.4), and steals (4). His January efforts were highlighted with a 32-point performance against LA Southwest College.
Andranae Powns
Guard | 5-8 | Fr. | David Starr Jordan HS
Freshman Andranae Powns earns her second Athlete of the Month recognition for her contributions on both offense and defense. Powns averaged a double-double as she led the Tartars in points (17), rebounds (10.6), assists (2.8), and steals (3.6) this past month. She was a major contributer in the team's first win of the season against College of the Desert as he scored 29 points and collected 15 rebounds.
